Savannakhet University (SKU) was established in 2009, to meet the rapidly increasing demand for tertiary education in Laos and its location name is Naxeng Campus, Kaison Phomvihan District of Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. The establishment is part of an ambitious program of the Lao government and its international development partners to accelerate strategies for Human Resources Development - an important component of its work towards the goals of poverty
reduction, food security, economic development and regional integration into the ASEAN collaborative framework. SKU has eight faculties: Agriculture and Environment; Business Administration; Linguistics and Humanities; Food Science; Education, Natural Sciences, Technology information and Engineering. For right now, SKU has two Master's Programs and one international program which teach in English.
SKU is a non-profit university dedicated to improving access to education for Lao people including indigenous and rural persons, and reducing poverty and ensuring food security by training farmers in practical skills. SKU brings together and develops the capacity of Lao's brightest young minds, rendering it the educational, cultural, and innovational hub for the central part of the country.
